Richard goes to jail

Its funny how in life we see people go through peaks and valleys. I try to avoid big peaks because coming down from the top can be hard. Today, Richard Hatch was sent to a federal prison in Oklahoma to serve a 51-month sentence for failing to pay taxes on the $1 million he won on the debut season of "Survivor." Read story here.

San Fernando Valley Turns into Death Valley with high of 119.2 F

The nearest official weather station to my house in the valley is Pierce College located in Woodland Hills. Today's high was 119.2 degrees which broke the all time record for highest temperature on any day in Woodland Hills. The previous record was 116°F on August 24, 1985. The high in Death Valley for the day was only a few degress warm, 125°F. The talk is that tomorrow could be hotter with the temperature topping 120 degrees which would just be unbelievable. The forecast is for blistering heat at least 110, highs record breaking. When the weatherman doesn't even give a temperature that's when you know it will be HOT.

Guess Who's 30?

The Hot weather continues...

Today it was 105.0 in the valley-- that's what people around here call "very hot" weather. I'm thinking that I may head for the beach on both Saturday and Sunday. The long range forecast is for cooling next week. I'm looking forward to the mid 90s. The strange thing about HOT weather is that you naturally eat less... this is working out to be good for my diet!

The Heat is On!!

My body has finally become accustomed to the heat here in SoCal! After living in the valley for almost three months I can now say that 95 is warm and 100+ degrees is tolerable. Just today, I commented to a local that it wasn't all that hot.... as I looked over to the temperature which read 96 degrees. Just to give you a taste of how what the weather is like here I've listed the highs so far this month. July 1st was by far the worst day as far as heat. And you better believe me that I haven't seen a cloud in the sky for several weeks now... the last and only time that it has even sprinkled rain since I've been here was back in May when it rained for about an hour.

Daily highs as measured at the Pierce College weather station located on Victory Blvd (approach 3 miles from my house).
July 1st -109.9
July 2nd -106.2
July 3rd -98.7
July 4th -100.6
July 5th -99.2
July 6th -100.4
July 7th -107.8
July 8th -107.5
July 9th -106.9
July 10th -101.6
